Butterfield Raises Bread Production To 2m Loaves

The management of Food Concepts Limited, operators of Butterfield chain of bakeries across the country has reassured its customers on the steady supply of the products, saying that it has concluded necessary arrangements to increase its bread production level to at least 200,000 loaves daily.

This, the company said, is a 186% improvement from on its previous production capacity of 70,000 loaves per day, adding that this target would be achieved before the end of the year.

Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Deji Akinyanju, gave this assurance in a press statement made available to THISDAY.

He also confirmed that the company now engages in bread production in eight locations across the country.

"Food Concepts Limited has plans to increase the capacity of its bakery operations from its current 70,000 loaves per day to 200,000 loaves per day in 2008. The company's current bakery operations produces bread from 8 bakeries including three franchise bakeries", Akinyanju stated.

The company's Chief Executive Officer also stated that his organization has committed huge investments into the acquisition of additional bakery equipment and properties to enable it meet this 2008 production target.

The seven years old Food Concepts Limited commenced operations in 2001 and its four major food brands including a fast food restaurant franchise (Chicken Republic), Pizza franchise (St Elmo's), Bakery franchise (Butterfield) and an upscale, fine dining restaurant (Reeds Thai Restaurant).

These brands have become increasingly popular over the years and are focused on ensuring that "Nigerians at all levels enjoy the extra-ordinary experience of its food brands".

The company recently entered into a N10bn securitization fund with UBA Global Markets Limited. The funds are intended for Food Concepts' aggressive expansion plans within Nigeria in the next 5years.
